Chill by Will Co-Founder Chats with Sweat NSK about Workouts

Chill By Will's co-founder Christina Powter is in great shape because she loves to box! We chatted with her about where she boxes, what other workouts she does and why she transitioned from fitness instructor to activewear designer. 

1. How did you first become interested in working out? 

At a young age my siblings and I all played sports.  Depending on the season I swam, lacrosse, track, field hockey....we were taught to love being active 

2. What are your favorite types of workouts?

Currently, I'm obsessed with boxing. (At Gloveworx USA)   I have a  knee injury that makes a lot of workouts painful for me.  I need to have a lot of fun and enjoy the workout.....and boxing is it for me.  I do find that I need to balance that training with a Pilates class once a week or so.  With Pilates I really benefit from the extra stretch as well as a lot of core work.  (The Studio MDR)

3. Can you tell us why you transitioned from fitness instructor to activewear designer and what you love most about what you do?

The transition was so organic.   When I would train my clients or train myself....a lot went into what outfit I was going to wear.  From my bra/tank/ pants all the way down to my sneakers.....I had a reason for each piece.  I knew what pants were good for squats, what bra was great for running and what tank was going to make me feel fierce. However, I often found myself saying "if only this piece did this, or these pants fit like this".  I even made adjustments at my tailor to change the pieces.  Once Corrina and I connected.....it was a no brainer, we needed to create our own line. 

4. How do you juggle working out and eating right with a family and work? What is something you must do daily to keep yourself healthy fit?

 My day starts at 5:05am.  That's when my alarm goes off.  I'm working out by 7.  I have a tight schedule....so I make sure school lunches are made the night before and dinner is already. planned.   I create my schedule each week...things sometimes  change (especially with having little ones) but what I try to keep strict is the morning routine.  Breakfast, kids wake/play, workout, take kids to school.....then the day for work.  I am grateful for the support from my husband.

5. Do you have a favorite healthy recipe you can share with our readers?

Peanut MnMs in the freezer.  Does that count?   I do love to make Paleo Chicken Tenders.  Super easy and the kids love them. 

1lb of organic chicken tenders 

1 cup of Almond Meal

1/4 teaspoon cumin 

1/4 tsp garlic Powder

1/4 tsp paprika

1 egg

1/2 tsp Sea salt 

 Dip tenders into egg...then dip into almond mix....bake at 350 for 30 min.
